Peter specializes in the valuation analysis of private companies and intangible assets.
Peter Ott & Associates Inc. is the Canadian affiliate of the Valuation Research Group (VRG), a global network of 350 professionals that provide quality valuations and value-related services for US and international business communities, serving clients in more than 60 countries.
Peter worked with a broad range of companies and government organizations while at a Big Four accounting firm and led a number of projects, including an initiative to help organizations exploit their corporate intangible and intellectual property (IP) assets.
Peter is a committee member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV) and was a taskforce member of two sub-committees that provided guidance to help Canadian Business Valuators understand valuation issues involved in valuing intangible assets and assessing goodwill impairment. He regularly participates at the Appraisal Issues Task Force (AITF), a voluntary US-based group of professional appraisers who wish to improve the practice of valuation and to establish and interpret the use of fair value measures in financial reporting.
Peter was a member of the Board of Directors of the York Technology Association and contributed in the capacity as non-executive Treasurer and continues to facilitate its Chief Financial Officer Peer group. Peter is also on the Board of St. Michael’s Homes, a four residential unit shelter and detoxification centre in Toronto and was previously a Board member and Treasurer of the Alzheimer’s Society of York Region.
